Installing QuarkXPress on Mac OS®

  1. Disable any virus protection software. If you are concerned about a virus infecting your computer, use virus protection software to check the installer and then disable any virus protection software before proceeding
  2. Double-click the QuarkXPress 7.3 Installer icon. The Authenticate dialog box displays.
  3. Enter your administrator name and password in the appropriate fields and click OK. The Welcome dialog box displays
  4. Click Continue. The License dialog box displays
  5. Read the license agreement carefully. Click Continue. If you accept the terms of the agreement, click Accept. If you do not accept the terms, click Decline.

    NOTE You must accept the terms of the license agreement to continue.
  6. The Validation Code dialog box displays. Enter the validation code provided with the installer
  7. Click OK. The User Registration dialog box displays. Enter your information in the appropiate fields.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Choose the installation location. The Install Location area at the bottom of the dialog box displays the path to the folder or volume where QuarkXPress will be installed. To install QuarkXPress in a different location, choose Select Folder, open the appropriate folder, and then click Choose. The installer displays the QuarkXPress 7.3 Installer dialog box.
  10. Choose one of the following options:
    • Choose Complete Install from the drop-down menu to install all of the program files. This option requires the most disk space.
    • Choose Custom Install from the drop-down menu to install only the items you select. Click the disclosure triangles to view individual installable items. Click an item's icon to view a description of the item. All items are checked by default; uncheck any items you do not want to install.


    NOTE QuarkXPress installs required files that do not display in the Custom Install list.
  11. Click Install. When installation completes, a dialog box displays QuarkXPress registration options.
  12. Slect a register option.

    Click Yes to register your software with Quark online (see "Performing online registration during installation"). Click No to complete the installation without registering your software (see "Performing online registration after installation"). NOTE If the installer is unable to find a Web browser with a live Internet connection, you must register later. See "Performing online registration after installation."
  13. Click Quit when the Installer notifies you that installation is completed
  14. Launch QuarkXPress by double-clicking the application icon. The QuarkXPress Product Activation dialog box displays
  15. Select an activation option
    • Choose Activate automatically using internet (Recommended) to activate automatically using the internet.
    • Choose Obtain Activation Code over the Internet to fill out an online form to activate QuarkXPress. QuarkXPress will generate an installation code. You can copy the installation code from QuarkXPress and paste it into the Retrieve activation or re-activation code Web page. The installation code is used to retrieve an activation code. You can copy the action code from the Web page and paste it into the QuarkXPress Product Action dialog box
    • Choose Enter Activation code if you already have an activation code
    • Choose Try QuarkXPress to try QuarkXPress for 30 days
  16. Click Continue.
